ALL ABOARD

I am heading out tomorrow and driving to Indiana. I am going treasure hunting for some wonderful vintage things for Sweet Yesterdays. The drive is 11 hours, it's a good thing that I have lots of CD's. I have made this trip so often I think I could do it blind folded. Well maybe not completely blind folded. I actually love going to Indiana, there are so many wonderful small towns that have their shops on Main Street, some still blow the noon whistle and have the church bells playing Onward Christian Soldiers. I also like the people, they always wave from their front porches as you drive by. It doesn't matter to them that they may not know you, it's just that this has been done for years and years. I think its called being "neighborly." Many of the small towns remind me of a Norman Rockwell painting. Picket fences, kids riding their bikes to the local ice cream parlor, the clotheslines behind the house have sheets hung to dry.
Maybe it's just me, but there just seems to be a sense of calm in these small towns. So it is wonderful for me to just get away and enjoy the sense of going back in time, to a simpler way of life.
I also was thinking about the trains that still run with the passenger cars. I just wonder how long it would take if I were to go by train. So many of these small towns still have the train depots. Just another Norman Rockwell painting of the way it used to be.
Well, wish me happy hunting. I will look forward to bringing you all sorts of wonderful vintage items from Mayberry. Don't worry I will be sure and tell Aunt B that you send your regards.

Michele, Have a wonderful trip. I just got back from one and found all kinds of wonderful vintage treasures. How I got them all home on the plane I don't know but it sure was worth the trouble. Hope you take lots of photos.
